Hey friends,
After a long stretch of silence, I’m back — and thinking about making some changes.
Over the past year, I’ve neglected this space for the past year: juggling work and family, entering my manuscript into the Queensland Writers Centre’s Publishable program, finishing a fantasy novella, and getting a quarter of the way through another that I hope will grow into a series. With so much of my creative energy going into long-form projects, I haven’t had much left for short stories — or for this newsletter.
So, I'm turning it over to you, the readers who've stuck around:
What do you want from this newsletter:
A monthly post blogging my writing journey, with tips, tools and tricks that I've pickup along the way?
Or the occasional short story, when inspiration strikes?
Also, I’m thinking of rebranding this Substack to better reflect where I’m at creatively. The current name, Campbell, He Wrote, doesn’t quite fit anymore. So I’ve narrowed it down to two options, and I’d love your input:
🗳️ What should I call this newsletter?
The Quiet Mage – a nod to my fantasy writing and the quiet, persistent work of storytelling.
Ink & Intent – a reflection of writing with purpose, process, and passion.
I know “writing about writing” is a niche within a niche. It might not be the fastest way to grow a following, but it’s the most honest way forward for me. I don’t have a big social media presence or a viral launch story — just a desire to share the journey, the lessons, and the occasional story with those who care to read.
I'm not here to chase algoithms. I'm here to connect with people who care about stories, proces and the messy, beautiful work of writing.
Let me know what you think — and thank you for being here.
